WOOL

We want to revalue wool as a material and recover sustainable traditions, participating in the conservation and renewal of heritage.

We use wool from sheep raised on natural pastures, specifically the Navarra , Berrinchona, and Latxa breeds. We create blends to achieve different characteristics for each product.

Natural, sustainable, biodegradable and ecological

PROPERTIES OF WOOL

Natural fiber. Excellent thermal regulator. As a natural insulator, wool traps air between its fibers, a process enhanced by its natural crimp. This trapped air acts as a natural insulator, which is why it keeps you warm in cold weather and cooler in hot weather. It provides consistent, dry warmth in winter and coolness in summer.

Hygroscopic capacity: absorbs more than 30% of its weight in water vapor in humid environments and releases it in dry ones. Promotes skin perspiration. Resistant to static electricity. Repels dust mites and is highly stain-resistant. Wool fiber is ultra-elastic and resilient, and the rippled fibers allow for diffusion of body pressure, relieving pressure points. Antifungal. Biodegradable.

NAVARRA BREED SHEEP

The Navarra sheep produces a white, semi-closed fleece of medium-fine wool, formed by long, trapezoidal, sometimes brush-like strands, which give the impression of an open fleece.

LATXA BREED SHEEP

The word "Latxa," of Basque origin, means "coarse," referring to the coarse wool of this breed of sheep. The Latxa is a sheep breed native to the Basque Country.

NATURAL SHEARING

Selected sheep from local flocks are sheared using natural processes that do not harm the animal.

Shearing is like giving sheep a haircut. Sheep need their fleece trimmed at least once a year, usually in the summer, to prevent them from overheating in the fields and contracting diseases. This time of year is chosen because it often coincides with the shearing season, when the fleece begins to detach naturally from the sheep's skin, making the shearing process much easier.

Contrary to what some may think, shearing does not harm the sheep when done by a skilled shearer. An experienced sheep shearer knows how to use the tools without cutting the animal's skin and is able to remove all the wool in one piece. Therefore, shearing is an art in the rural world that we must preserve.
